I have always been the biggest fan of the Olympics since the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. That is where my excitement and passion for gymnastics started. And I have been keeping up with the sport and the event that started it all since then! Here is what you need to know about the 2024 Paris Olympic Games!
When is it? July 26th - August 11, 2024. 17 days long!
Where will it be held? Across 35 different venues with several iconic locations in and around Paris including Stade de France, Roland Garros Stadium, Seine River, Eiffel Tower. Neighboring cities will also host some events including Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon. Saint-Etienne, Nice, and Marseille. Tahiti (a french territory) will host the surfing competition and its 15,000km away from Paris!
How many different sports will we see? 32
How many medal events will there be? 329
Where and when is the Opening Ceremony taking place? July 26, 2024 at the Seine River (the first time in Olympic history that it is not being held in a stadium!)
When are the 2024 Paralympic Games taking place? August 28 - September 8, 2024
Which sport has the most events? Aquatics with 49 events across swimming, marathon swimming, diving, water polo, and artistic swimming
How many athletes are competing? There is estimated to be around 10,500 athletes competing. The final number will be determined after the Olympic Trial Competitions
Are there any new sports in the 2024 Games? Yes, two! One of them is called "breaking" (better known as break-dancing). Sixteen B-boys and sixteen b-girls will face off in the dance sport against each other. The other is called "extreme slalom" which is in the category of canoeing. Four athletes get off a ramp at the same time and whoever gets to the bottom first wins.
How many volunteers are there? About 31,500 volunteers
How much are tickets? Ticket prices range from around $25 to $1,020! And this is not including the opening or closing ceremonies. Starting prices are that low because they want to sell nearly one million tickets at 24 euros (because its the 2024 Games); how cool is that? To buy your tickets, click here!

10,000,000 (yes, you read that right, ten million) tickets will be available for purchase for the 2024 Olympic Games
261,800 rooms will be available for people to stay in for accommodations
Parisians are predicting around 15.9 million people will visit the region
1.5 billion euros are going into working on the infrastructure and preparations for the Games
The last time Paris hosted a summer Olympic Games was exactly 100 years ago, in 1924! (wow!)
