Recap:
If you watched the meet, you would know how excited everybody was!
Simone Biles became the first gymnast to win eight US all-around titles in her career (so far)! Biles is currently holding: 27 US titles and 35 national championship medals overall. Shilese Jones did an overall outstanding job winning second all-around and placing first on bars. Leanne Wong (check out her "bow"-tique shop on Insta!) placed third overall performing consistently on both days.
The current senior women's national team include: Simone Biles, Skye Blakely, Jordan Chiles, Kayla DiCello, Amelia Disidore, Shilese Jones, Katelyn Jong, Joscelyn Roberson, Tiana Sumanasekera, and Leanne Wong.
Asher Hong, only 19 years old, is the first teenager to win a men's all-around national championship since John Orozco. Right behind them is 20-year old Khoi Young and 19-year old Fred Richard, making the podium in all around. Hong believes they need to do well in the Olympic Games in order for the sport to be "boosted".
The current senior men's national team include: Asher Hong, Khoi Young, Colt Walker, Fred Richard, Yul Moldauer, Paul Juda, Don Whittenburg, Curran Phillips, Taylor Burkhart and Dallas Hale.
Next step for the ladies are the World Championships/Pan American Games Selection Camp where rosters for Worlds and the Pan American Games will be determined. This will take place in Katy, Texas on September 18-21, 2023. The men will be competing for Worlds on September 20 - October 8 in Antwerp, Belgium, and the 2023 Pan American Games on October 21 - 25 in Santiago, Chile.
We congratulate all these gymnasts for their hard work.
On to the next meet! :)
